Description:

The Oregon Journalism Project (OJP) is a new, independent nonprofit news initiative for the state of Oregon, and one of the most exciting new opportunities for watchdog journalists seeking to make a difference. With a small team of highly skilled reporters, OJP's mission is to fill the news void in this remarkable state and make a difference with data-driven, fearless investigations.

We are seeking to add a few members to our team.

You might be that person if you:

  • have at least four years of experience with serious accountability journalism.
  • have particular experience covering state and local government
  • have a passion for digging into government budgets, looking at state and local contracts, purchasing rules, audits
  • are willing to travel the state of Oregon and you have the narrative skill to focus your stories through the lens of Oregonians most affected by them
  • understand the importance of both lengthy investigations and breaking news

We offer a competitive Salary: commensurate with experience, full health and dental benefits, , 401K with an employer match, and 11 paid holidays. This is a hybrid role based in Portland, Oregon and will require at least two-three days a week in the newsroom. Travel within the state will be required.

The Oregon Journalism Project is committed to building an inclusive organization that represents the people and communities we serve. We encourage people of all races, colors, national origins, ancestries, creeds, religions, genders, ages, disabilities, veteran status, sexual orientations, and marital statuses to apply.
