Description:
The Herald and News in Klamath Falls, Oregon, is looking for
a general assignment reporter to cover a wide range of stories that will
attract readers online and in print. The successful candidate will be able to
demonstrate and ability to write well, cover a broad spectrum of assignments
and be creative and curious enough to generate their own story ideas. The
individual should also be able to develop strong sources in the community. That
might include finding the exciting buried in the mundane.
Essential skills and experience
-Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with digital platforms and social media
strategy are important.
- Community engagement experience – in person and on social
networks, being a professional ambassador for the news organization in the
community.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with some newspaper
experience.

The Herald and News is situated on the eastern foothills of
the Cascade Range in Southern Oregon. There is a wealth of outdoor activities
at your disposal, all within 25 miles.
