Description:
The Rio Grande SUN, a small, weekly newspaper is looking for a sports editor to cover high school sports.
We are nestled in the mountains of Northern New Mexico about 35 minutes north of Santa Fe.
We cover seven school districts and all sports ranging from wrestling and football to basketball, tennis, cross country and baseball. Sports is everything to our readers and they expect to see coverage in print and on the web.
We are looking for a self-starter who can make contacts in the high school sports community and work independently, but also someone who has a love of all sports and a desire to bring that coverage to our audience.
Photography skills are necessary and experience with page design and InDesign is desired. The sports editor usually designs and paginates their own section each week.
The ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize important assignments is necessary. Must be able to meet weekly deadlines and work well under deadline pressure. Travel to games is required and so is some office time.
Salary range is $30,000 to $35,000
