News Reporter

The selected reporter must be able to:

• Carry out all the duties and responsibilities described above.

• Develop contacts and sources throughout the community. 

• Follow the best practices in journalism, Associated Press style, and search engine optimization.

• Learn to use and effectively work in a content management system.

• Be well-organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Qualifications include: 

• A degree in journalism, communication, or a related field is preferred. 

• Previous experience as a news reporter is required. Candidates with published work in a college publication will be considered.

• A proven track record of handling both daily and enterprise news stories. 

• Valid CA driver's license with acceptable DMV record, independent transportation, and insurance required.
