What you’ll do here

If you’ve read this far, we know that you want to know more. Devex is seeking a business development professional to take charge of our Pro Funding product. You’ll be responsible for the overall leadership of this product which has more than 6,000 subscribers who work at some of the most important and influential global development organizations.

You’ll execute our growth strategy for Pro Funding, helping develop the product and acquiring more subscribers through new marketing and sales efforts. You’ll utilize data-driven insights to track product performance, user engagement, and market trends. You’ll work closely with our editorial team on content strategy and with our data team on new and improved funding information for Pro Funding subscribers. You will report directly to our Executive Vice President responsible for sales and will work with your team to set and achieve ambitious growth targets.

Your first year will look a little bit like this…

In your first 90 days, you’ll get to know existing subscribers, the current product, and the ongoing sales and marketing approach. You’ll develop a good understanding of your role within the wider Devex team and get to know how to pull together resources from different teams to drive toward improved product and sales results.

After your first year, you’ll be an expert in global development funding — where it is and how to fundraise for it — and you’ll be working every day to ensure our subscribers get the information they need to succeed in winning business at their own organizations. You’ll oversee the Pro Funding platform, ensuring it remains a valuable and competitive resource for our subscribers. You’ll have solid relationships among our biggest subscriber organizations and have your finger on the pulse of what our subscribers are looking for.

Over time, you’ll become a knowledgeable and respected voice in the global development community on funding trends and fundraising strategies, speaking at Devex and industry events.

Required Qualifications

Here are the basic requirements we’re looking for in the role…

• Minimum 10 years work experience
• At least a few years of business development experience
• At least a few years of global development experience
• Strong communications and relationship-building abilities
• Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for decision-making
• A bachelor’s degree

Nice-to-haves

Besides the basics, here’s what we’d love to see…

• Deep knowledge and experience with the global development funding market
• Strong familiarity with both official agencies and the foundation world
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Proficiency in using funding databases, CRM systems, Excel, and other relevant software tools
• Comfortable moderating panels and webinars

The compensation package for this role will vary based on market rates in your location and your own experience level. The total compensation range (including sales commissions and bonuses) will be approximately $100-$150k USD.
