The Sedalia Democrat and Warrensburg Star-Journal are an award-winning newspapers serving Sedalia (Pettis County), Warrensburg (Johnson County), and surrounding areas.

We are looking for two News Reporters to fill vacancies in both the Sedalia and Warrensburg newsrooms. Our community newspapers are focused on bringing local news to the area, from city government meetings and business developments to school updates and community features. The ideal candidates will have a passion for news reporting and be able to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines. The News Reporters must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Research and write stories for print and digital media.
• Develop contacts and sources to ensure accurate reporting.
• Gather information from interviews, press conferences, and other sources.
• Edit stories for accuracy, grammar, and AP style.
• Write stories in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current events.

Candidates must have basic photography skills; experience with social media, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Photoshop is helpful.

These jobs are based in Sedalia or Warrensburg and are not  remote positions.
