Description:
The Recorder, a nonprofit local news startup in northern Westchester County, NY, seeks a seasoned, savvy and entrepreneurial editor with a proven commitment to quality journalism to lead the newsroom of its weekly community newspaper and online news site. This is an outstanding opportunity to build a nonprofit local news organization from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end editorial management from planning to production
- Oversight of digital and print channels including website, newsletter and weekly print edition
- Supervision of full-time and freelance staff including reporters, art director, copy editor etc.
- Develop local sourcing strategy and relationships
- Coordinate content postings on social channels
- Develop and implement ready feedback and community listening tools
- Extensive community engagement and outreach
- Budget tracking and management
- Enhance and support ongoing revenue generation programs - e.g., member subscription growth
Qualifications
- At least 3 yrs editorial supervisory experience
- Excellent writing and enterprise reporting skills
- Outstanding news judgement
- Ability to manage and inspire editorial contributors
- Digital and print production experience
- Commitment to quality local journalism
Annual salary: Up to $65,000
