Advertising & Sponsorship Sales Manager—Hybrid
Help us grow with your exuberant and friendly personality. We are looking for a salesperson to lead the advertising and business sponsorship efforts for the nonprofit, nonpartisan newspaper of record for historic Concord, MA. The weekly print newspaper is delivered free of charge to all Concord residents and business, saturating an affluent market, so the sales challenge from time to time is to allocate the 40% of space fairly among local advertisers. We are a charitable organization that believes compelling, impartial local journalism offered in print and online empowers our readers to engage in the conversations and civic participation that foster a healthy democracy and build a stronger community.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving our existing advertising clients, which includes retailers, realtors, and restaurants.
- Sourcing new local advertising sales and business sponsorship opportunities through lead follow-up, cold calls, and emails.
- Understanding customer needs and requirements to effectively position our nonprofit newspaper.
- Closing sales and achieve sales goals.
- Maintaining client database and extend the database of prospects.
- Assessing opportunities for digital sponsorships on our web site.
- Work with designer to create or refresh client ads.
- Collaborating with CEO to broaden the business community’s financial support of our educational efforts.
The right candidate will:
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey the value of advertising solutions to our clients.
- Be persuasive and able to guide our customers toward mutually beneficial solutions, caring about the success of Concord businesses.
- Maintain honesty and integrity in all interactions to build trust and credibility to foster long-term relationships with clients.

- Manage their time well by prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Be a good teammate and supportive colleague who values others.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Work remotely, but frequently visit Concord-based clients and prospects and attend meetings at our West Concord office.
Compensation: Job requires minimum of 30 hrs a week with compensation of $45,000 and can transition into full time with annual compensation of $60,000. Although we will train, the ideal candidate would have 1 to 5 years of sales experience.
