Description:

The Gillette News Record is searching for a high-energy reporter to cover city council, feature writing and other assignments in Gillette and Campbell County. This position may suit an entry-level reporter starting in journalism or one with more experience, seeking a new opportunity to learn and grow.

This position will also be taking photos for each assignment. Professional camera experience is a plus, but not required.

The News Record, which publishes twice weekly in print and online daily, has a strong history of award-winning reporting and leans into its role as an institution that values teaching and exercising the fundamentals of journalism. Located in an energy-rich stretch of northeast Wyoming, between Bighorn National Forest and the Black Hills of South Dakota, Gillette is less than an hour from Devils Tower.

The town boasts excellent public amenities, including a modern recreation center, walking and biking trails and many parks.

Experience with page design is a plus. Hours vary, based on a traditional work week with some meetings and assignments at night.
