The Director of University Relations is a member of the executive management team and reports directly to the Chancellor of the University. The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, management and oversight of all LSU Alexandria marketing and public relations activities. The position is a grant funded opportunity with long-term continuation dependent upon fund availability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the coordination of all marketing communications and branding programs including social media; identity and logo management; university spokesperson; interacting with all areas of the campus community to promote and cover various events and programs; crisis communication planning and implementation; and campus-wide review of marketing-related activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in working and communicating with multiple public entities is required.

The successful applicant will also have direct experience with broadcast and print media and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and direct experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer competency is required. Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop or other similar software packages preferred.

The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah's most read news source, is looking for a detail-oriented, self-starting college student interested in political reporting for a semester-long internship in its Washington, D.C. bureau this Fall.

The Tribune provides airfare to and from Washington, D.C. and a public transportation subsidy. The position does not pay and the intern will be responsible for finding his or her own housing.

The intern's primary responsibility will be assisting in the creation of Political Cornflakes, a thorough news roundup sent to insiders each morning. The intern will also get the opportunity to write news stories that will appear in The Tribune's print and online editions and interview members of Congress.
