Description:

I'm looking for a competent right-hand man/woman to help me grow eCommerceFuel into the web's top destination and community for independent merchants.  If you're an accomplished writer who's interested in eCommerce, this role may be for you.

The Vision

With 22,000+ subscribers and tens of thousands of monthly visitors, eCommerceFuel is one of the web's most popular eCommerce blogs.  But there's still much more I'd like to achieve.  My vision:  To make eCommerceFuel the web's undisputed top destination for independent eCommerce entrepreneurs looking to grow their business and connect with other likeminded merchants. As the eCommerceFuel content and community manager, you'd help achieve that vision in the following ways:

The Blog & Podcast

You would be responsible for writing original blog content, coordinating high-profile guest contributions, creating and executing a content schedule, editing all blog content and promoting existing pieces. You would also line up experienced business guests for the podcasts, conduct pre-interview research and create highly actionable podcast follow-up posts.

The Community

As manager of the 350+ person (and quickly growing) private eCommerceFuel forum, you'd be responsible for fostering a high-quality, vibrant and tight-knit community.  Responsibilities would include screening and connecting with new members, facilitating interactions and introductions, starting discussions, coordinating events (both online and offline) and more.   To help you best achieve your goals, you'd receive professional community management training.

eCommerce Business

You'll also get to see behind the scenes of my seven-figure eCommerce business and occasionally contribute to eCommerce content creation and marketing initiatives. However, the responsibilities listed above (blog, podcast and community) would be your primary areas of focus.

Requirements

  • Outstanding writer.  Ideally 5+ years of professional writing experience with managerial editing experience preferred.
  • Upbeat, personable and relatable.  Strong ability to connect with people via the written word.  A healthy sense of humor is a plus.
  • eCommerce / business experience is a plus but not required.  However, a strong interest in learning & mastering the subject is mandatory.
  • Ability to research involved business topics and create quality long-form blog posts, like the example here.
  • Willingness to tackle a wide number of tasks, including project and team member management.
  • Preferably based in the United States, but will consider strong applicants who have at least 2-3 hours of shared work time with U.S. MST time zone.

Benefits

  • 100% location-independent
  • A high degree of responsibility over one of the web's leading eCommerce blogs and communities
  • No micromanaging; you'll be evaluated solely on the basis of your work and ability to meet deadlines
  • Gain experience in eCommerce, copywriting and online marketing through job responsibilities and personal mentorship
  • Interact with a vetted, high-quality group of more than 350 experienced eCommerce professionals in the private forum
  • Highly flexible schedule in terms of working hours
  • Full-time U.S.-based salary between $50,000 and $70,000 depending on experience w/ health insurance stipend and vacation
