Harvard Business Review Group is looking for an Associate Editor to join our team.  Every editor works on more than one platform, but this is primarily a digital role.  To be successful in this position, you must be curious, flexible, and data-driven, and you must love the web.  You’ll be happy at HBR if you are fascinated by the changes taking place in the publishing industry and if you believe that good ideas and well-run organizations can change the world for the better.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•      Edit, report, and write blog posts and other online content.  Develop relationships with expert authors and sources. Contribute content ideas and suggest new formats to test on the HBR network.

•      Work with social media, PR and other teams on ways to engage the HBR community, including live chats and other projects.

•      Develop strategies on how to better share HBR content across platforms and social                 channels; vet new social opportunities that might be appropriate for HBR.

•      Curate content via social media, homepage, email, and feeds to other platforms; manage publishing queue, write and rewrite headlines.

•      Manage editorial aspects of some tech projects; contribute ideas on how HBR can strengthen its multiplatform user experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Wide-ranging, creative intellect and sharp editorial instincts

·         Excellent reporting, writing, and headline-writing skills

·         Ability to spot, quickly shape, and reliably line-edit a good story

·         Savvy understanding of social media and user engagement practices

·         Proven interest in ideas related to management

·         Solid technical grounding – understanding of content management systems, etc.

·         Up-to-date understanding of digital trends and metrics

·         Sensitivity to user experience

·         At least 3 years’ experience in digital journalism

·         Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent

·         Writing samples will be requested as part of the application process
