Description:

 

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is seeking to fill a senior design position with a strong leader who has an excellent eye for design and user experience. This UX/UI designer will collaborate with content producers, web developers and project managers to create innovative, user-friendly products that increase engagement with our current readership and attract new audiences. The ideal candidate will have experience creating environments in which readers interact with content -- not interfaces -- creating an immersing, informative experience. New digital products will include desktop, tablet and mobile web experiences. This person will have experience designing with each interface in mind.

Duties include:

  • ·  Meet with content producers and project managers to determine the goals and specifications for new digital  products.

  •   Create wireframes and presentations for web developers and project managers.

  • ·  Work directly with web developers to write CSS for desktop, tablet and mobile products.

  • ·  Create style guides for Journal Sentinel digital products.

  • ·  Stay up to date on current trends, standards and best practices of UX/UI.

Skills include:

  • ·  Strong communication skills

  • ·  The ability to lead, collaborate and work closely with a wide variety of people within the Journal Sentinel including: editorial, advertising,  marketing, technology and business development.

  • ·  Expert in user experience/interface design for desktop, tablet and mobile.

  • ·  Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator or preferred tool for wireframes and presentations.

  • ·  Experience with responsive design and how it can be used to provide interface-specific layouts AND content.

  • ·  Ability to collaborate and work well with content producers, web developers and project managers.

  • ·  Ability to edit design concepts quickly based on testing group and editor feedback, as well as technical constraints.

  • ·  Experience carrying a brand across company products a plus.

  • ·  Comfort working with front-end technologies such as JQuery and JavaScript a plus.

  • ·  Familiarity with the principles of “Mobile First” a plus
