Post-Crescent Media is seeking a new-world journalist to join an aggressive, energetic and focused team that has established itself as a standout in the nation’s leading media company.

We value exclusive journalism that holds officials accountable, stirs emotion and spurs positive change – largely through the filters of public spending as well as the impact on families. We also value providing clear expectations and training to give reporters a cutting-edge skill set. 

The focus of the job comes in three channels: 1) enterprise reporting about the strengths and weaknesses of the collective community-based safety net in our market; 2) courts reporting on higher-impact criminal and civil cases; and 3) “urgency reporting” of all kinds, from car crashes and snowstorms to spur-of-the-moment protests and resignations of public officials.

As with nearly all Post-Crescent reporters, this position requires iPhone video skills, and the desire and potential to continuously improve. Our reporters embrace social media and relish opportunities to experiment with emerging digital tools that will keep us at the forefront of innovation.

Every serious candidate also should have a proven record of building sources and using public records laws. Self-confidence is a must.
