Description:

The Business Journals, which publishes the web sites for 43 business publications owned by American City Business Journals, is looking to fill a newly created position of Special Sections Editor for digital products.

The Special Sections Editor’s primary area of responsibility will be assembling a daily stream of best-in-class information for entrepreneurs and top managers that will appear in The Business Journals’ national How-To blog. This editor will identify, recruit and build working relationships with expert contributors around the country in a variety of industries, editing their guest posts and using social media to help drive traffic to them. This editor also will work with free lance journalists on select How-To topics and lesson-driven stories about how companies and entrepreneurs. This editor also will do some reporting and writing as well as curating relevant information from other media.

Proven relationship-building skills are a must as well as a demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship and helping businesses grow. Ability to write compelling, clickable headlines, drive strong search-engine traffic and broaden our reach through social-media strategies is absolutely critical. This person needs to truly own the traffic metrics and be driven to succeed. Will consider candidates from non-journalism backgrounds but excellent writing and editing skills are musts.

The winning candidate will be part of the company's National Content Team and will be involved in other products and initiatives, but the How-To products will be top priority.

This new position is located at ACBJ headquarters in Charlotte. Some travel required. We offer excellent benefits and competitve salary. We are seeking a candidate with a bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, media or marketing or comparable professional experience and who has a professional history of at least five years.
