Description: Assistant Managing Editor Plymouth, Minn.-based publisher seeks assistant managing editor for managerial responsibility for the weekly newspaper, Minnesota Outdoor News. Duties include: editorial, news and opinion writing, generating article ideas, and researching and coordinating content ideas with the managing editor. Position has supervisory role with associate editors and working with freelancers (and budget) to develop news coverage. Other duties include copy-editing of pages, working closely with production staff on artwork and graphics, outlining and developing long-term projects, and representing Outdoor News at shows, banquets, and events. Minimum of 5 years experience in publishing with specific experience in reporting, writing, editing an newspaper pagination. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, (or equivalent), publishing, communications, or related field. Must have a passion and understanding of the outdoors.
