Company: The News-Review
Education / Social Services Reporter
Roseburg, Oregon
Job Status:  Full-time
Salary:  Not Specified

One of Oregon's best midsized dailies, The News-Review in Roseburg, Oregon, is in need of a talented reporter interested in covering the education beat for an area that boasts 13 school districts of various sizes and a community college. The successful candidate will write about education issues, not just report what happened at school board meetings. The issues being dealt with by social service and nonprofit agencies are also part of the beat. Writing feature stories and covering municipal government in small cities are additional aspects of the job.

Newspaper experience is preferred, but top college journalism graduates who’ve completed reporting internships are encouraged to apply. Photography or video experience is a plus.

We publish four afternoons a week and on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with a circulation around 17,000. We have an excellent reputation and a robust website: We are situated in a beautiful part of Oregon, with plenty of outdoor recreation along the rivers and in the national forest. We're close to the Oregon and in the midst of an emerging wine region. We are family-owned, offer good benefits and a 401K.

A cover letter, resume, clips of your best writing and references should be included in your application package. Email to with "NR Ed Reporter" in the subject line.
