The famous and infamous Point Reyes Light is seeking applicants for its Literary Reporting Internships. The Point Reyes Light is the most famous small paper in the world, renowned for its Pulitzer-prize winning history and literary present. We are the subject of a feature story in the current issue of the Columbia Journalism Review entitled, `The langage of strangers. How a hotshot editor failed to comprehend the soul of community journalism.` It complains that we try to cover small town news like Joan Didion and Truman Capote: like that``s a bad thing.

The internships are four months long, full time and unpaid. Interns will be treated as full reporters and expected to complete two assignments a week (600-1600 words). They will also work on smaller assignments like the Sheriff Calls and InBriefs.

The Point Reyes Light is located in Marin, the green place across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. It is perhaps the most beautiful place in the world, where you can sit on your surfboard and look out across the water to mountains covered in redwood.

We a looking for exceptional writers with an ear for the rhythm of language. An interest in science, the arts and religion are appreciated.
