The Point Reyes Light, Marin Country``s Pulitzer Prize winning weekly newspaper, is looking for photojournalist interns. The Light is located across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, on the overgrown, rambunctious coast, which is populated by iconoclasts, organic farmers, hermits, fisherman and freaks. They live amid redwoods and forrest creatures.

The Point Reyes Light is famous for its Pulitzer Prize, provocation and literary aspirations. Journalists should be brilliant, courageous and have a desire to spend their days shooting and nights photoshopping. We are looking for photographers who bring art to their journalism. It is not enough to capture the moment, you must do so artfully, with proper regard for light, composition, depth of field and bokeh. Many pulitzer prize winning photographs are poor specimens independent from the action they capture. Many photographers are lazy. They are hacks with long lenses and blazing shutters. They stand to the side of the action in their photo vests and produce work as floppy as their hats. If you would like to see excellent photojournalism look toward World Press Photo, and aspire to become photographers like Eugene Richards shooting `Cocaine True, Cocaine Blue` or James Nachtwey. Below are links to some recent excellent photojournalism.

The Point Reyes Light is a small, weekly newspaper, so interns should not be prima donnas. They are expected to produce shoot multiple editorial assignments, work on their own long term photo essay projects, and help deliver the paper. In return, you will receive unparalleled clips and a $300 per month stipend to help cover reporting expenses. The internship is four months, and full-time.
