Science Reporter Internship

Description: We are seeking a science reporter intern to develop stories and write for the news section of BioTechniques.com. This is an opportunity to participate in multimedia content creation from inception to publication.  Proposed length of internship is three (3) to six (6) months.

Payment: We will provide a stipend for meal and transportation expenses.

Location: 52 Vanderbilt Ave., New York, NY 10017.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and pitch stories for the news section of the site.
  • Gather information through tips, press releases, sources, and events.
  • Interview life science researchers and industry professionals.
  • Write articles for an audience of professional biomedical researchers.
  • Post and update content through the site``s content management system.
  • Produce newsletters, podcasts, and video.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should be enrolled in a science journalism MA program.
  • Excellent writing/editing skills. Detail-oriented, resourceful, and self- motivated.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Background in science, specifically biology, preferred.
  • Experience with HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and CMS systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with audio and video production preferred.
