We``re looking for a talented journalism student—adept and speedy at reporting and writing—to join our staff for the summer. We take on one or two interns every summer and each semester. The candidates should:

* have good typing skills * be able to grab quotes with a notebook—not a tape recorder * be intrepid, and ready and enthusiastic to cover any story * be able to turn out stories quickly, and with minimal guidance * know how to take a photograph (you don``t have to be Weegee, but it helps) * be able to get around (a car is good, bicycle even better, but neither are necessary) * have at least 5 clips of stories they have done to show us.

You don``t have to be in college, but you do have to have clips. What we care most about is that you know how to report and write.

What you``ll get in return, if it works out, is,

* Dozens of solid clips in our paper and on our website at dotnews.com * The possibility of a front page story * A surly not-that-old editor to yell at you out of the side of his mouth like it was the heyday of journalism in the 1920s * Some good advice and guidance on stories * The prestige of having had a byline at our fine paper, well-known for its political and local coverage, in business for over 25 years.

So send us a resume and 5 clips, and tell us why you want to work for us. Send them to stidman@gmail.com. No calls please. EOE. Be sure to note any extra languages you might speak, or any local knowledge of our neighborhoods (Dorchester and Mattapan in Boston) you might have.
